Experiencing Alerting failure for Availability Data Type – 01/12 – Resolved

We've confirmed that all systems are back to normal with no customer impact as of 13 January 2018 02:15 UTC. Our logs show the incident started on Friday, 12 January
2018 20:20 UTC 
and that during the ~6 hours that it took to resolve the issue customers were not able to create or edit any web tests on Application Insights.

  • Root Cause: The failure was configuration change in our availability services.
  • Lessons Learned: We understand the issue and preventive steps are being pursued.
  • Incident Timeline: 6 Hours & 10 minutes - Friday, 12 January

We have an issue with one of our internal services which is causing issues creating, updating or viewing webtests. SCOM customers additionally will not be activate the GSM Management pack. The webtests will keep running, and customers can see the webtest results, and alerting based on webtest results are working fine. We are working to restore functionality. Apologize for the inconvenience.
