Today's MIEE Spotlight looks at the work of Alan Morris, Head of Technical Services at Ceredigion County Council. Alan has spent 22 years working in Education IT Services supporting a wide range of professionals and takes real pride when he sees his work impacting the teaching and learning and therefor, the young people in the schools.
Alan was involved in developing the 21st Century ICT school strategy in his Local Authority, which has been implemented for the last 6 years. He leads a team of 23 Education and ICT Specialists in the use of Microsoft technologies in Education, such as Windows 10, Azure and Office 365. Hosted by Azure, Alan was able to develop a teacher planning tracker to allow his colleagues to plan against the Literacy, Numeracy and Digital Competency Framework in Wales. Synchronising this with pupil data has allowed teachers to effectively use formative assessment alongside their planning, to make accurate next steps in learning.
Alan has also been integral in the roll out of Surface Pro 4 devices for each teacher to allow them to teach from a wireless display from any part of the classroom, allowing for more collaboration.
