Today's MIEE Spotlight is looking at the fantastic work of Martine Mannion, Teacher of Computing & Digital Learning Lead at Wellingborough School. Martine is passionate about ensuring her young people have the fundamental skills for the 21st Century.
Martine has changed paradigms in her classroom by incorporating innovative pedagogy to equip her learners with the skills they need for learning, life and work. She has been empowered to do this through utilising the 21st Century CLD Course on the Microsoft Educator Community to enhance her own knowledge and skills.
Martine has created Micro:Bit activities using Touch Develop, mapped to the UK CS Curriculum for her Year 7 Students. The lessons promote computational thinking and computer science literacy for a wide range of stages and abilities. Through her MicroPong Project, Martine was able to allow her students to have ownership over their learning, collaborate effectively together, problem solve and use their computational thinking skills to create their own code- real world problem solving and innovation!
You can follow Martine on Twitter @MartineMannion and read her blog, to keep up to date with the innovative work she is doing in Computer Science.
